Have you ever asked yourself what is holding you back from reaching your dreams? Some may say there is a lack of knowledge of how to get there. Others may say they don’t have the time or the money. Well, most of the time it’s neither one of those. It’s simply your mindset that’s holding you back.
When you have a mindset that signifies you are comfortably centered in your comfort zone, you are experiencing life with no worries, no risks, no challenges and no desire to do more. You are content with being content. All of this means you are going through life in a plateaued state of mind.
When you are living comfortably in your comfort zone, opportunities for growth are nonexistent. Stepping out of your comfort zone allows you to work towards achieving your goals, your dreams and your full potential.
Getting out of your comfort zone must be purposeful. You must purposely start to remove yourself from your comfort zone which will allow you to develop a growth type mindset whereas you can take the necessary steps to get out of your comfort zone and go for something greater and better for yourself.
A comfort zone mindset keeps you trapped in a never fearful state of mind which will not lead to progress in any form. You see experiencing fear or stress should not be perceived with negativity or a bad experience. For instance, the stress and fear of a job interview to advance in your career is considered as good stress. The stress of being stuck in a job with no opportunity is bad stress, yet someone stuck in their comfort zone will view it as good stress. The comfort zone mindset will quickly say, I am not for all that stress of answering questions and having to dress a certain way and still don’t get the job. But guess what, the more you interview, the more comfortable you become and the more experience you gain which will lead you to one day say, “I got the job”. You see there is no other way around it just take the necessary steps towards living life outside of your comfort zone. You may ask yourself how and why you would do that when your comfort zone feels great. Well, life is about taking on challenges for the betterment of your growth and development. To do this, you must get uncomfortable being comfortable and get comfortable being uncomfortable outside of your comfort zone.
You must get stressed about being unstressed in your comfort zone and welcome the stresses that come with trying to reach what looks unreachable in your comfort zone.
You must become fearful of your fearless mindset in your comfort zone and get comfortably scared in a mindset that is filled with “what if this” or “what if that” happens.
You must be uncertain about being certain the comfort zone is where you are most comfortable and find your comfort in your new mindset that will deliver you to the next level of courage to embrace whatever will be.
You must be comfortable with what Billy Cox once said: Life will only change when you become more committed to your dreams than you are to your comfort zone.
Now, go get uncomfortable.
